Chevron Champions

Andrei Popa is currently Reservoir Management Consultant within Chevron’s RM Upstream Capability unit. He has over 22 years of experience applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies to complex optimization problems in the energy industry.  He has published more than four dozen papers on the subject, and co-author the book “Artificial Intelligence & Data Mining (AI&DM) Applications in the Exploration and Production Industry”. Dr. Popa’s service within industry organizations has earned him several awards including the 2015 SPEI “Distinguished Service Award”. He served on the SPE Board of Directors as the Western North America Regional Director (2015 – 2018). Since joining Chevron in 2002, Andrei has had multiple assignments including reservoir engineer, special projects lead engineer, subsurface team lead, and reservoir management supervisor. Since 2009 he has taught “Applied Reservoir Engineering” and “Natural Gas Engineering” at University at Southern California, and served as a guest lecturer for several course within the “Smart Oilfield” program.

Dr. Popa earned his Ph. D. and M.S. degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from the West Virginia University and he holds a B.S. degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from the University of Ploiesti.

Attila  Aksehirli is currently Reservoir Management Supervisor at Chevron in Bakersfield, California. He has over 20 years’ O&G experience with effective and efficient business engagement philosophy, situation analysis, strategy development and deployment resulted impactful leadership with result-oriented business discipline.
Jose Molero is currently Process Control Systems Engineer at Chevron Technical Center, Facilities Engineering – Process Engineering and Automation Control Systems Chapter
